Description:

Under general supervision, performs intermediate or journey level skilled and semi-skilled park maintenance work. Cultivates, waters and trims shrubs, hedges, trees, lawns, and flowers; rakes leaves and does general grounds cleaning; mows lawns and trims hedges with hand or small power tools; mixes fertilizers and soil amendments to prepare soil and plants landscape material; sets traps to control rodents; may apply insecticides and herbicides to control weeds and pests; assists in the construction of paths, flower beds, and park improvements; keeps tools and equipment in proper condition and repair; performs minor building maintenance.

Guide:

• Requires ability to read, write and follow oral instructions, and one to two years of grounds maintenance experience.
