Description:

Under general supervision, performs intermediate or journey-level skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of agency's water distribution system. Performs maintenance, installation and repair of the water distribution system, including valves, vaults, hydrants, water services, backflow devices, air/vacuum combination release valves, mainlines, and concrete and asphalt infrastructure; locates water lines and valves; conducts water quality system flushing, including valve exercising and hydrant servicing; Performs shut downs for outside contracts and agencies; identifies and corrects safety hazards; responds to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and works outside normal working hours as needed.

Guide:

• Requires ability to read, write and follow oral instructions, and one to two years of water construction or water system experience.
• High school education or equivalent and a State of California Water Distribution Grade I certificate.

• Cross-Connection Control Specialist.
• Water Construction Inspectors.
• Water Treatment Operators.
• Crew Leaders.
• Entry level or inexperienced maintenance classes.
