Description:

Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, and supervises the traffic engineering function for the agency. This position typically serves as a division or section head in a larger agency; leads and participates in traffic engineering and transportation projects; supervises the operation, maintenance and installation of traffic control equipment, traffic signs, and street striping operations.

Guide:

• Four to five years of experience in civil engineering with major area of specialization in traffic engineering and maintenance, including some supervisory experience.
• Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with major course work in traffic engineering or transportation planning and registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Registration or certification as a Transportation Engineer is desirable.
