Description:

Under administrative direction of the District Manager, Utilities Director, or equivalent position, manages, coordinates and participates in laboratory analyses to support water and wastewater treatment plant operations, permit requirements and laboratory accreditation program regulations; coordinates work with other divisions and prepares regulatory reports; and performs related duties as assigned. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for setting laboratory testing procedure s completing state and federal reports.

Guide:

• Requires five to seven years of laboratory testing and analysis experience, and at least two years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Bachelor's degree or above in biology, chemistry, or related life sciences, and technical certification in wastewater analyses.
• Possession of a California Water Pollution Control Association Laboratory Technologist III Certificate or higher; or the ability to obtain equivalent certification within twelve months from the date of appointment.

Exclusion:

• Laboratory Technicians
• Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators
• General Maintenance Superintendents.
