Description:

Under the general supervision of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor or
higher level Field Services Superintendent/Manager, performs a variety of
skilled
journey level wastewater plant operations and maintenance functions,
including monitoring
treatment gauges, meters, and controls, conducting plant and equipment
inspections,
performing and interpreting test data, and preparing and maintaining
accurate plant
records. Prepares reports required by discharge permits. May assist other
maintenance personnel or lab personnel.

Guide:

• Requires three to four years of wastewater inspection, equipment operations, and maintenance, and monitoring of lab results.
• Requires GED and coursework and technical training in wastewater treatment and discharge systems as well as testing and reporting procedures.
• Requires Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III certification at the time of hire or within 12 months of assignment to the job.

Exclusion:

• Excludes Water Treatment Plant Supervisors
• Water Maintenance Supervisors
• Water Maintenance Crew Leaders or lead personnel
• Positions that require a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade IV certification or higher.
