Description:

Under the administrative direction of the District Manager, Utilities Director, or equivalent position, plans, organizes and manages water production, treatment and distribution operations associated with the agency's potable water treatment plants, deep wells and transmission systems and facilities, in compliance with state and federal requirements. Plans, coordinates, and manages the work of water production staff and prepares and presents state reports; and performs related duties as assigned. May oversee work of plant maintenance personnel, depending upon organizational structure.

Guide:

• Requires five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation of potable water treatment facilities, at least four years of which were at a supervisory level; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Possession of a California Water Treatment Certificate, Grade V; or the ability to obtain one within eighteen months from the date of appointment.
• May require additional Wastewater Distribution certification as well.

Exclusion:

• Laboratory Managers
• Water Treatment Plant Operators
• General Maintenance Superintendents.
