Description:

Under the general supervision of a Water Treatment Plant Supervisor or higher-le vel Water Production/Maintenance Superintendent, performs a wide variety of skilled, journey level tasks related to the monitoring, regulation, maintenance, and operation of potable water treatment systems and transmission equipment. Uses field or computerized telemetry controls. Inspects and maintains chlorination processes, pumping stations, wells, and ancillary equipment. May perform routine water quality tests, complete journals and reports, and assist in training and supervising lower level operators; and performs related duties as assigned.

Guide:

• Requires three to four years of water treatment inspection, maintenance, and operations experience in water treatment, involving potable water production, treatment, storage, and transmission.
• Education equivalent to GED, supplemented by coursework and technical training in water treatment, system hydraulics, quality testing, and reporting procedures.
• Requires California Grade III Water Distribution Certification and Grade III Water Treatment Certification, at the time of hiring or within 12 months of hire date.
