Description:

Under the general supervision of a Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, Field Maintenance Manager, or managerial position, performs a wide variety of specialized assignments related to water sampling, testing, inspections, statutory reporting, and public communications. Collects and tests water samples or coordinates sampling and testing procedure s conducted at contract labs. Identifies changes in water quality trends and prepares required notifications Researches water quality regulations, and coordinates water quality studies with consultants, districts, contract laboratories, and in-house personnel. Investigates and responds to public complaints; represents agency at regional water quality and county health department meetings; prepares and submits periodic water quality reports; disseminates public information related to water quality and conservation practices.

Guide:

• Requires two to three years of water quality and inspection oriented work, including the preparation and submission of water quality monitoring reports.
• Education equivalent to GED, supplemented by coursework and technical training in water science, water treatment, quality testing, and reporting procedures.
• Requires California Grade II Water Treatment Certification and/or Grade at the time of hiring or within 12 months of hire date.
