Description:

Under administrative direction of the Utilities, Maintenance or Operations Director, plans, controls, and manages the activities and operation of the wastewater collection and treatment plants, laboratory testing systems, and related facilities. Oversees field supervisory personnel, administers division budget, and ensures water treatment and statutory reports are completed and submitted in a timely and reliable manner. Coordinates projects and reporting with other areas.

Guide:

• Typically requires the equivalent of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college in chemistry, biology, natural sciences, hydrology, water engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical coursework; and five years of technical and supervisory experience in the operation of wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
• Ability to obtain either a Grade IV or Grade V Wastewater Operator Certificate from the State of California, depending upon the wastewater processing standards required of the agency.
