Description:

Under general supervision and with considerable latitude for independent judgment and action, performs difficult engineering work requiring full professional competency. Work normally involves the direction of a small group of subordinate engineers and sub-professional employees. Decides on design procedures and performs the more difficult phases of design of major engineering projects; assigns to subordinate engineers the development of plans, specifications, and detailed drawings of the various components of a project; as a resident engineer, supervises field inspection and testing of large projects to check performance or conformity with plans and specifications; makes engineering studies of difficult and complex subjects.
