Description:

Performs a variety of semi-skilled mechanical tasks in the operation and maintenance of water treatment, or waste water distribution facilities including pumps, meters, storage facilities, distribution pipelines, and services. Reads and checks recording devices to ascertain that the water treatment facilities, wells, reservoirs, and distribution equipment are operating properly; maintains simple records of operation of plant, wells and reservoirs necessary; performs routine and preventive maintenance on chlorine machines, pumps, electrical motors, meters, telemetering equipment, and pneumatic valves; installs and services water meters.

Guide:

• Requires up to two years of responsible water utility experience performing water system maintenance and routine operation.

Exclusion:

• Person with full supervisory responsibility.
• Water Quality Inspectors.
• Water Maintenance Workers.
