Description:

Performs the full range of complex and technical crime scene investigation duties. Collects, photographs, preserves, identifies, and performs basic analysis of blood, ballistic, narcotic, and other types of physical evidence. Prepares casting of tire, foot, hand, tool, and other types of impressions; analyzes and prepares conclusions of evidence for use in court testimony. Prepares and maintains detailed reports and records. Serves as the recognized expert in court in the presentation and verification of collected evidence.

Guide:

• Journey-level (2 to 3 years) experience in the field of forensic science or related crime scene investigation and evidence processing.
• Specialized education and training in crime scene evidence gathering and processing may be substituted for one year of experience.

Exclusion:

• Those positions predominately responsible for latent print collection and analysis, and crime scene photography.
• Supervisors/Leaders.
• Sworn positions.
