Description:

Enforces laws regulating the possession, ownership, and control of animals within the City. Provides field observations and enforcement of animal regulations; investigate s complaints involving animals; captures and impounds unlicensed, stray, and uncontrolled animals; picks up sick or dead animals; provides aid to injured animals; transports animals to the animal shelter or veterinary hospital; determines methods and places of quarantine; confiscates illegal traps; sets traps and relocates wild animals; prepares reports and maintains records, logs and files; performs animal permit inspections on pet establishme n ts and businesses.

Guide:

• Usually requires two years of experience in the care and handling of animals.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade with additional college level course work in police science, animal care, or related field.

Exclusion:

• Full supervisors.
• Technicians who provide paraprofessional medical care and treatment to animals.
• Kennel attendants
