Description:

Operates heavy construction and maintenance equipment in a variety of maintenanc e activities including asphalt, concrete, park maintenance and utility work; and performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks. Employees within this class perform the full range of duties as assigned including the operation of the most difficult and complex heavy equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, grader, roller, etc. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.

Guide:

• Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing maintenance work involving the operation of light and complex heavy construction equipment.
• Completion of formal or informal education at a level which provides the ability to read and write at a level required by the job.
• Full journey-level classification.

Exclusion:

• Mechanics.
• Sweeper Operators.
