Description:

Performs skilled work in driving and operating a heavy-duty motor sweeper employed in cleaning streets and gutters of trash and other accumulations in an assigned district. Selects effective and efficient method to cover assigned route; services and makes minor adjustments to equipment; checks brooms and drive chains for wear; reports mechanical problems.

Guide:

• Primary responsibility is for operation of motor sweeper.
• Requires one to two years experience in operation of heavy automotive equipment.
• Requires Class B License.

Exclusion:

• Equipment operators who must also operate a variety of medium to heavy motorized equipment such as small graders, skiploaders, tractors, and/or trucks as a regular part of their overall work activities.
• Full-time operators of small industrial plant or parking lot sweeping machines.
