Description:

Under general supervision, personally performs and/or plans and coordinates the activities of a crew performing a variety of tasks in the maintenance division. Performs a wide variety of skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work. Usually assigned the most difficult tasks which may include the operation of heavy or special equipment. Incumbents provide functional or lead supervision to lower-level maintenance staff. May determine equipment, materials, and staff needed to complete assigned projects. They provide input on performance reviews and conduct in-service safety and training programs.

Guide:

• This is an advanced journey level class.
• Performs same work as those supervised.
• Routinely leads, instructs, and performs the more difficult tasks requiring greater skill and knowledge.
• Normally requires at least two years of experience.

Exclusion:

• Lead workers performing specialized skilled work such carpentry or street painting.
• Full supervisors.
